So recently I had the great honor of making up Zuke’s student and Jr. Vocal Coach, Emma Brooke Ferony, for her very first professional video shoot!! It was so much fun and the video came out great! You can check it out here. As far as her make up, I wanted to give her a look that works well for her age (she’s only 17) as well as stays with the “Jersey Country” vibe she’s been working towards. Using all Mary Kay products because I am a Beauty Consultant for Mary Kay and also because the products are super awesome, I decided to give her a nice neutral smoky eye. After finding the right foundation, I started on her eyes. I used Honey Spice as the base highlighter, Almond as the mid-tone, and Copper Glow as the accent. I’ll let you in on one little secret though, the key to pulling together a great smoky eye is to make sure you re-highlight the brow bone as well as the inside corners of the eye. I also love love love to finish off most of my looks with a little Amber Blaze right in the middle of the lid where the light will hit when she blinks- it has a gorgeous effect! After the color was finished, I used eyeliner in Black on the top and bottom lashes and after curling her eyelashes applied Ultimate Mascara in Black. For her cheeks I used the blush Sparkling Cider, which works well with just about every skin tone and finished the look with Café au Lait lip gloss. It was such a great experience and I know Emma felt pampered and beautiful for her shoot!! You can order any of these products on www.marykay.com/kslagter and don’t forget to email me at [email protected] to schedule your own free beauty consultation/makeover. Stay beautiful! ~Kelly

I have a secret for you serious pop/pop rock students- Zuketunes LLC is currently in the works creating an exclusive apprenticeship program designed for students who are at an artistic standstill and show a strong desire for knowledge and understanding of the creative process in becoming a working artist. Zuke is working with a great team made up of several of the top session players, producers, vocalists, and songwriters in New York City who will be consulting and working with those students accepted into the program. You will be working with already established entertainment professionals who will teach you the skills needed to become a self-reliant working artist. This is NOT designed for the beginner artist at all- this is for SERIOUS and HARDWORKING artists. Some of the issues they will be addressing are: advanced songwriting skills, songwriting training, production skills, staging/performance, and updating/creating your personal image. As mentioned, this program is by invitation only and all those interested must meet a list of requirements, which will be explained at a later date! Stay up-to-date on all of this excitement by following this blog! You can read about its team members by going to www.zuketunes.com/artist-development.html. There will be more updates on the team profiles as well- so keep up! Please note- this is NOT an agency, a management team, or record label. It is an apprenticeship program where a team of professionals will help to guide and direct the student in his or her artistic career. ~Kelly Slagter |
