MY BACKYARD
I live in Northern NJ in a lakefront home. My students stare out at the lake and at nature during lessons. Anyone who comes here instantly relaxes and many have said it’s like a retreat.
This video shows your view when you sing — and that's part of the Appalachian Trail! After your lesson I encourage you to take advantage of what my area offers. I live near many orchards, wineries, horse stables, Greenwood Lake…tons of stuff to do around here. Think of it as a mini vacation! |

ROCK IS A VERB
One of my greatest passions is helping rock artists. I find them to be fearless with their singing. My foundation is as a rock singer so the organic approach is very natural to me. Over the past decade I've been working with and understanding musical theater students. Although there are wonderful methods out there to teach the show performer how to rock, to my ears something is either missing or over analyzed.
Most rock artists I know and work with balance sensitivity with courage. They are pure vulnerability on stage. There is no working on a character. What you see is the true self. Some are so exposed on stage we may feel uncomfortable watching them.
Actors are amazing how they can pull us into a character and make us believe it's who they are. They own the technique of breaking things down and building them back up to a believable character. Although they are the hardest workers I've ever met, in my observation this can get in the way of singing rock authentically.
Here in my home I provide a safe space for you to sing. I work with rock artists to keep their voice in shape for a demanding tour schedule. I also address ways to maintain privacy while exposing so much of the self on stage. For the musical theater artist wanting to know more about singing rock, we learn together who you are and not who you want to be. Rock is a verb: you either rock or you don't.

Transportation
West Milford is only 40 miles from midtown NYC. Yes, I live in a 1960s era town, but there are buses that drop you off about a mile from my house. You can walk along the lake to get here. Or, you can take a bus that runs every 1/2 hour to the Willowbrook Mall in Wayne, NJ and hire the local West Milford Taxi service. If you decide to drive, there’s plenty of parking since I live on a private street.
